Easy File Encrypt

Easy File Encrypt is a fast and free app which allows you to encrypt and decrypt files on the go! Set your own AES cypher password, and your file will be encrypted. Now no-one can decrypt the file without knowing the password!

Update 8/23/2011 – It turns out there are a number of phones that this program will not work for without significant re-writes for each model. As I am running short on time I’m afraid I’m going to have to pull this app from the store for now, as I can’t ethically have a product on the market that doesn’t always work as advertised. Anyone who wants a copy can get one from me personally, but for the time being development on Easy File Encrypt has stopped.

Update – Batch Mode has been added! Batch encrypt/decrypt any number of files.

You can download Easy File Encrypt from the Android Market here.

Update 4/2012 This is now open source and hosted on GitHub. Check it out at my GitHub page.

  1. Hi Davis,

I downloaded Easy File Encrypt and initially it worked fine on my Samsung Galaxy S II, but after some weeks I tryed to use again back ( decrypt) my encrypted files. My surprise was that after to select the files, write the correct password and select Decrypt I cant access to the content anymore. I selected 4 files and I can´t recover them. Do you have a patch or any idea the reason because I can´t read them? Thanks for your help !!! Dany

  2. Hi Davis again,

I forgot to inform you that I did some tests:

I select to Decrypt the files many times, to confirm that Decryption process with no result.
Those files have more than 25 Mb.
Sometimes appear as if the application do not respond and Android show a popup screen about wait or stop this.

Hopefully you can help on this.

    Thanks,
    Dany

  3. Well, I remember that I used the option Multi.. to Encrypt those files ( 3 of them at the same time) with big capacity … ( more than 75 Mb. in Total).

    Thanks,
    Dany

  4. Hey Dany,

Hrm. That’s quite a nasty bug there. It sounds like your phone may be running out of memory during the encrypt or decrypt process, but that may not be the case. I’ll look into it and see what I can figure out. It may be the large size of the files that is causing issues. Thanks for the report and I’ll see what I can figure out

  5. Hi Davis again,

Thanks about your efforts to try solve this issue, I hope you can find out a solution because those files I cant recover them :(
I would like to add (FYI), that IF you try to Decrypt a file with an incorrect password and later you want to use the good one to Decrypt, it´s not possible to recovery the file anymore ( Decrypt it).

Thanks again for your time !!
    Dany

  6. Hey Dany,

Ya I’m still looking into it, I think it may have something to do with a padded buffer overflow, but I’m not sure. I pulled it from the market so nobody else could get caught with this bug. Apologies that it happened to you. I’ll let you know if I make any progress. Thanks!
    /H
